Yes and no. You can not create a folder outside the designated IMAPdir using Binc. However, a unix user can create a soft link from within the IMAPdir to someplace else and Binc will happily follow the link.

I am developing an e-mail system under which all e-mail is owned
by the "email" user.  I want to have the e-mail system handle
identifying and authenticating an IMAP connection, switch to the
IMAPdir for the correct user, and exec bincimap.

Will that work?
