One user might want IMAPdir while another Maildir++, one might use the
depot path "Mail" while another uses "Maildir".

It would be good to have a small program that fetches this so that it can be substituted for one that looks up such configuration from an ldap server.

I believe that whatever solution works for qmail-ldap would also work for Binc. See http://lifewithbincimap.org/index.php/Main/LifeWithCheckpasswordAndFriends for more details.
