In a flash of inspiration, it occurred to me to use a client to create a folder with a 
"." in the name and see how binc dealt with it!

As I'm using IMAPDir I can use dots in folder names as you have confirmed.

The problem now is to get maildrop to create folders with escaped dots, i.e. "\.", but 
that's one for another list...
