Is it the same thing we're talking about here? I send an e-mail to the
list, and after that, I receive some spam from some paypal.com address?
Its not spam send directly to the list which is the problem or?
The problem is that people sign up to the list, then send spam TO THE LIST.
The list resends this spam to all the users. -- Thats the problem in a
nutshell.
The list needs to control who can sign up, control what is allowed to be
sent
and make it harder to abuse the system.
-------------- My issues
A few of us have better spam control than the list and it's creating a
bounce problem.
When a spam, sent from the list, is received on my system and it is rejected
for being a virus or phishing email.
-- I have fix for my side which I'll implement later. But the problem
remains that the list is an open relay.
The list thinks that my system is broken because it is refusing to accept
the email. (The list doesn't read the error codes to see that it is a flat
refusal for that message.)
The list sends a warning that message XXX could not be sent to my address,
which is annoying because they are just phishing emails or viruses.
