Hi Douglas, there are no plans to remove DLZ yet. If we ever decide to remove this, we will follow https://gitlab.isc.org/isc-projects/bind9/-/wikis/Policy-for-removing-named.conf-options
This basically means that the earliest date for removal of this feature would be 4+ years in the future, but in this case it is unlikely to happen unless we speak to Samba project and have a clear path for you to go ahead. We are not going to pull the rug from under you. Ondrej -- Ondřej Surý — ISC (He/Him) My working hours and your working hours may be different. Please do not feel obligated to reply outside your normal working hours. > On 4. 2. 2026, at 0:54, Douglas Bagnall via bind-users > <[email protected]> wrote: > > hi > > According to the 9.20.4 release notes, > >> the DLZ interface itself is going to be scheduled for removal > > but I haven't seen more detail about that scheduling (or scheduling of > the scheduling). > > Is there a likely time frame for this? > > The Samba project uses DLZ.
