Program Manager (Posting #03617) This is a two-year appointment with the possibility of renewal.
DESCRIPTION: The Bioacoustics Research Program is looking for a Program Manager to partner with the Director, principal investigators, and the leaders of the software engineering, hardware engineering, and research analyst teams to effectively manage and coordinate the activities of all the projects for the Program. The Program Manager will:
* Facilitate the management, development, and execution of all projects to ensure completion on schedule and within budget parameters.
* Analyze the costs/benefits of new project opportunities to provide advice on viability and scheduling.
* Organize and coordinate Program goals and objectives; direct evaluation and quality control activities; develop and implement schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
* Coordinate and lead in the design, execution, and effectiveness of internal controls, to provide assurance that operations are effective and efficient, and financial information is reliable.
* Oversee the effective implementation of contracts that use Program products.
* Work with members of the Program's multi-disciplinary staff to ensure that Program logistical needs are met.
* Develop, cultivate, and maintain working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations associated with the Program.
* Facilitate the development and oversight of project budgets.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree; 5-7 years of experience or equivalent in business, the sciences or related field.
* Experience in scientific and engineering processes; including R&D, standardized production, and the planning and execution of field research.
* Experience in financial services, marketing, or educational industries.
* Self-directed, yet collaborative work style; can work equally well with a team and independently
* Strong verbal, time management and organizational skills oriented towards event or program implementation and details
* Solutions-oriented approach to challenges.
* Ability to communicate with a diverse clientele both orally and in writing.
* Ability to support and motivate others in a dynamic, creative, multi-disciplinary environment.
* Strong interest in advancing the cause of scientific conservation and the Laboratory of Ornithology's mission of applying research to interpret and conserve the earth's biological diversity.
