Dear Colleagues, I am happy to share the following opportunity to work with our team at the Northwest Fisheries Science Center through CICOES <https://cicoes.uw.edu/>, University of Washington in Seattle. UW is currently accepting applications through April 25, 2025. Please share with anyone you know that might be interested.
Description We are seeking a scientist *(temporary)* to assist with the completion of the NWFSC contribution to the NMFS Passive Acoustics Strategic Initiative. The main focus of the work is to support the development of 1.) National passive acoustic data and analysis integration and 2.) Infrastructure development and efficiency improvements for the Marine Mammal Ecology’s passive acoustic data. The project aims to expand the applications of passive acoustics to understand long-term trends of a.) marine ecosystems, including monitoring of ocean soundscapes and contributions of anthropogenic noise, and b.) protected marine mammal species, including killer whales, humpback whales, and other cetaceans species of the Pacific northwest. Additionally, the project aims to improve the NWFSC passive acoustic data storage and archiving, and create data products that are easy to interpret and can be used to inform conservation and management decisions within the West Coast Region and across the U.S. The posting and link to apply is here: https://uwhires.admin.washington.edu/ENG/Candidates/default.cfm?szCategory=jobprofile&szOrderID=245121&szCandidateID=0&szSearchWords=&szReturnToSearch=1 Feel free to reach out with any questions. _____________________ Marla M.
