Not to be pedantic, and only peripherally on topic, but Blackdown is not, and has never been open source. Back before Sun became interested in supporting a JDK on Linux, the Blackdown folks made it possible by signing whatever NDA was required and getting access to the JDK source. When Sun did become interested in Linux Java, the Sun JDK for Linux was the Blackdown codebase, plus some stuff from Borland/Inprise/whatever. These days the Sun JDK and Blackdown's version are more or less equivalent, as I understand it.
