There was cloud cover all day but good visibility. Observations: Today was a Sharp-shinned hawk day with 235 sharpies passing over the observers. Also a goodly number of Broad-winged Hawks made an appearance much to the delight of those attending the annual open house. These were the first Broad-winged Hawks of the season and they couldn't have picked a better day to display their natural talents. Others included the usual squadron of Turkey Vultures, a few osprey, some Norther Harriers, a smattering of Cooper's Hawks, a lone Red-shouldered Hawk a zippy Merlin some Red-tailed Hawks and several American Kestrels. All in all a good selection to teach all those visitors about raptor migration. Today's open house was reasonably well attended and a good time was had by all. The hawks did their best to put on a good show with a respectable variety for all the visitors. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Bill Brown () Beamer Conservation Area, Grimsby, ON information may be found at: http://www.hwcn.org/link/niaghawk/index.html Beamer Conservation Area is located on top of the Niagara Escarpment above the town of Grimsby, Ontario.
