Hi Everyone, We just came home from Pinary, having spent Friday and Saturday there. The weather was rather windy and rainy. However, birding was good. Highlights:
Riverside # 4 Campsite: COMMON NIGHTHAWK Flying and circling low above the river and the forest edge, best view ever. Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Belted Kingfisher Common Yellowthroat. Riverside Trail Scarlet Tanager, Eastern Bluebird Yellow Throated Vireo, Northern Flicker, Great Crested Flycatcher, RED HEADED WOODPECKER. Nippising Trail Chestnut-sided Warbler, Eastern Towhee M/F Indigo Bunting, CLAY COLORED SPARROW. The Sparrow was found at the spot described by Blake Mann, a few weeks ago. Grand Bend Sewage Lagoons Wood Ducks, Green Winged Teal Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitchers (50-100) and possibly Long-billed Dowitchers. Least (30-50) and Spotted Sandpipers. On the way to the Lagoons at least 15 Horned Larks picking grit on the gravel road (Great view).
