Sorry for the late posting .... The following were my sightings from Saturday afternoon in the Ft. Erie area:
1 adult Parasitic Jaeger (Crystal Beach) 1 Storm-Petrel sp. (Crescent Beach) The Parasitic Jaeger was working the lake back and forth, not far off-shore. The Storm-Petrel, which I think was most likely a Wilson's due to flight style, was seen well out, flying in an easterly direction. I also walked the entire length of Crystal beach and back again and did not find any exotics among the dead birds washed ashore. When I stopped at Waverly Beach, I did closely examine the Black-capped Petrel specimen that the Holdens picked up from the beach. It indeed appeared to be in fresh condition and was not particularly emaciated. DIRECTIONS: From the Q.E.W., take the Helena Rd. exit and proceed south to the lake to the parking lot at Waverly beach. Crescent Beach, is the next beach accessible to the west off the foot of Crescent Rd. Crystal Beach is at the south end of RR 116; take the Sodom Rd. exit from the Q.E.W..
