The Painted Bunting in Normandale was not seen today from what we could tell when we wear their around 4:00 pm (will making our way back from the Point Pelly butterfly count ) all that we spoke to had heard of no one that had seen it . Also the bird feeder was getting pretty empty . Everyone, Today I received a message from Jack Green of Orillia describing a Brown Pelican that he and four others saw at very close range as it flew by their cottage on August 1. As for the bird's age, it was described as "all brown" but since it was seen in flight only it would be difficult to categorize the bird as either a juvenile or first-summer immature. Given the behaviour of Brown Pelicans on the Great Lakes in the past, it seems probable that this bird will be seen again somewhere in Ontario (but not necessarily close to the original location). Exact directions are as follows: "It was near Moons Bay on the east side of the north end of Lake Simcoe, about 3 miles south of Orillia."
