Greetings all,

I checked Presqu'ile between 7-8:00 a.m. this morning (Mon,23 Aug.) and
saw an immature Parasitic Jaeger chasing Common Terns around Sebastopol
Pt. After several minutes it appeared to settle behind Sebastopol,
either landing on the water or on shore on the far side.

Shorebirds were pretty much as previously reported. Of interest was one
adult Baird's (my latest date for an adult) mixed in with an estimated
67 juv's. Although Presqu'ile has long been known as one of the
Province's better Baird's locations, these recent numbers are way above
the typical annual maximums which are usually in the 25-30 range. Also
interesting was a Whimbrel which flew in from Gull Is., walked around
the natural beach for a while then vanished - likely back to the island.

Cheers,

Doug McRae

Directions: Presqu'ile can be reached by taking the Brighton/Presqu'ile
exit from Hwy. 401 and following Cty. Rd. 30 south through Brighton.
>From town, follow the provincial park signs to the beach. Most
shorebirds were feeding on flats developing off Beach 3 and 4.
