Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter: Calvin Brennan

Observers: Jim Maki, Walt Pawloski

Weather:
The heavy cloud cover and haze prevalent the last few days persisted until
the late morning today. At that time there was a distinct lessening of the
cloud layer to spark the first movement of birds. Winds were generally
light from the east-northeast throughout.

Observations:
Although the sun did not come out in full force, the bright overcast was
enough to stimulate the flight resulting in steady and at times heavy
migration for the remainder of the day, perhaps not surprising after all
the damp cloudy weather of late. This marked the first good flight of
Rough-legs with the seven tallied more or less divided between the color
morphs. Among the Red-tails observed today were three dark morph
individuals and a partial albino bird. In all it was a very enjoyable day,
typical of October in its diversity and volume, with many mixed kettles to
pick through.
