A male and female Black-backed Woodpecker were seen feeding together late this afternoon in a patch of dying Scots Pine in Sandbanks Provincial Park.

Directions as follows:

From the junction of county roads 12 & 18 at West Beach, proceed west on
county road 12 for about 1.1 km. You should have just passed the Dunes Day Use Area sign on your left. Turn right on the paved turnoff to a gravel parking lot. Walk the main cross-country ski trail (marked with blue markers) which heads directly westward until you reach the first paved park road. You should see a set of washrooms to your right and a telephone booth across the road. The woodpeckers were feeding just north of the washrooms.
