The Boreal Owl that Norm Murr found out on the spit (Tommy Thompson
park) could not be found today with lots of people looking.
 
There wear 2 Great Gray Owls , 2 great horned owls , 1 Northern Goshawk
, 1 Rough-legged hawk , redpolls and 1 Pipit.
 
 The park is found at the foot of Leslie Street south of the lake shower
hear in Toronto.

Highlights of reports received December 23 through December 30 from the
Niagara
Frontier Region include LARK SPARROW, SABINE'S GULL, NORTHERN GOSHAWK, LONG-
EARED OWL and TURKEY VULTURE.

The LARK SPARROW at 1073 Youngstown Road in the Niagara County Town of
Porter
was still present on December 30. The bird could be seen at the feeders from
side of the road.

>From Dunkirk Harbor in Chautauqua County this week, two SABINE'S GULLS - a
juvenile and an exceptionally rare adult, at the west end of the harbor.
There
is only one previous record of an adult SABINE'S GULL in the BOS archives.

December 25, a NORTHERN GOSHAWK was reported in the Genesee County Town of
Darien at Warner and O'Conner Roads.

Also the 25th, a LONG-EARED OWL at an unexpected location - the Times Beach
Nature Preserve on Fuhrmann Blvd. in Buffalo. This may be the first record
of
LONG-EARED OWL at Times Beach - additional details from the observer would
be
appreciated.

December 27 in Niagara County, TURKEY VULTURE over Route 93 in Cambria, and
2
SHORT-EARED OWLS near Four Mile Creek State Park in Porter. And, on Niagara-
Orleans Countyline Road, a SNOWY OWL. A late report from December 20 of
another
SNOWY OWL, near the airport in Cheektowaga. The owl flew from the Holiday
Inn
on Genesee Street to the parking area on Holtz Road.

December 29, the two female KING EIDERS were still on the Niagara River off
Fort Erie, Ontario. Another [immature] KING EIDER was found December 27 on
Lake
Ontario off Fort Niagara State Park in Porter. Also at Fort Niagara this
week -
50 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS and 12 LONG-TAILED DUCKS.

Other reports this week - From Amherst, 5 WOOD DUCKS in the pond at Reist
and
Glen in Williamsville. At Niagara Falls, an adult BALD EAGLE near the
Rainbow
Bridge. On Bullis Road in Elma, PILEATED WOODPECKER, TUFTED TITMOUSE and
CAROLINA WREN. And on Gypsum Pond Road in the Town of Oakfield, 300 HORNED
LARKS, 8 LAPLAND LONGSPURS and 500 SNOW BUNTINGS.
