The Snowy Owl that was originally reported in Bracebridge on Dec. 17 was seen again this morning (Jan. 3) by Bob Burt and myself. It has become a bit tougher to locate though since it frequently sits in the snow-covered field next to Robert Dollar Dr. instead of its old favourite, the hydro pole near Bracebridge Yahama. There was a Northern Hawk Owl reported at same location (behind Rich Hill Candles) by Richard Doucette on Jan. 1 and although it was seen again on the 2nd, we couldn't find it today.

We also found 2 Great Gray Owls this morning in the fields near the Bracebridge Alcan plant. First owl was on west side of Muskoka Beach Rd. near abandoned brick house across from #2006. Then just a short drive ahead, the second owl was in poplars just west of the D snowmobile trail visible from the Alcan shipping/receiving driveway.

Great Gray directions: From Hwy. 11 take Hwy. 118 W (Eccelstone Dr.) Bracebridge exit. Turn left onto Muskoka Beach Rd., just after you drive under the railway overpass.

Snowy directions: From Hwy. 11 take Hwy. 118 W (Eccelstone Dr.) Bracebridge exit. Turn left onto Robert Dollar Dr. at Leons Furniture.
