There are no birds local to this area so the appearance of an adult Peregrine over downtown Cornwall on January 13th was nice to see. Recently, a tardy pair of Pied-billed Grebes was on the St. Lawrence, directly below the bridge on the Cornwall side but I haven't checked lately. For those outside the area who are wondering about ice conditions on the river, what ice? Without a prolonged cold snap, the river has the potential to stay open this winter but we'll see what February brings. Brian Morin Cornwall
