Hi Everyone
This morning I observed at least 7 Great Gray Owls along March Valley
Road. Most birds were in the open and I watched a couple of American Crows
harassing one individual in a deciduous tree until the owl flew into heavier
cover, a spruce tree. This one of the few times I've witnessed GGO's being
mobbed.
The Red-headed Woodpeckers were very active at the old burn site today.
They both appear in good shape and this will be the first successful
overwintering record for the Ottawa District.
At Remic Rapids there was one male Barrow's Goldeneye in a group of
Common Goldeneye, displaying to a female Common Goldeneye.
