This is Chris Lewis reporting.

Although the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers are still largely frozen
expect for the rapids, migrants continue to arrive, slowly but
surely. 17 Canada Geese and 1000's of Ring-billed Gulls were above
Deschenes rapids on the 19th and 20th of March, and the 1st
reported male Hooded Merganser of the year was here on the 20th.
Also on the 20th at Deschenes there was one 1st winter and one
adult Iceland Gull and 4 Glaucous Gulls of various ages, and at
Remic rapids there was a male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE and one 1st-
winter Iceland Gull. Single Iceland and Glaucous Gulls were also
reported from the Trail Rd. Landfill on the 19th.

A visit to the west end of Gatineau Park on the 19th produced 4
Bald Eagles along the Eardley-Masham Rd. as well as an American
Kestrel on Hwy 148 at Lac des Loups Rd. 3 Wild Turkeys continue to
frequent the Duck Club feeders on March Valley Rd.

Owl reports included a BOREAL OWL along a trail off Jinkinson Side
Rd. off Hwy. #7 between Ottawa and Carleton Place on the 13th, a
Great Horned Owl at the arboretum of the Central Experimental Farm
on the 16th, a Snowy Owl at Eagleson and Akins Rds. on the 19th,
and a Barred Owl again at the Pine Grove Trail feeder on Davidson
Rd. on the 15th. At least 5 GREAT GRAY OWLS were still present at
Dunrobin Rd. and Kilmaurs Side Rd on the 13th., 1 was on Rifle Rd.
at Shirley's Bay on the 16th, and 3 were reported from March
Valley Rd. on the 19th.

On the 17th the Carolina Wren in Rothwell Heights was singing at #
104 Rothwell Dr. and 2 Carolina Wrens appeared at a feeder on
Summit Ave. in Alta Vista the following day. On the 20th, ~ 100
Bohemian Waxwings were at Britannia, and 10 Cedar Waxwings were in
the Clyde Ave. woods. A few Common Grackles, also the 1st local
report of the year, were seen on Island Park Dr. on the morning of
the 20th.

Thank you - Good Birding!
