A pale first winter Glaucous Gull loafed on the banks of the Conestoga River
late this afternoon, just downstream from the Princess Elizabeth Bridge.
Farther downstream, 3 Cackling Geese were among a hundred or so Canada's.
Across the road, a Northern Shrike perched in a tree top. Continuing north,
there were two dusky Snowy Owls in their traditional haunts between the 4th
and 6th concessions. Friday evening, a pure white Snowy was seen just north
of the 8th Conc. as well.

>From Elmira, go west on Line 86. Turn north (right) on County Rd 12 at
Macton and go about 3 km to the bridge. The owls are between 2 and 8 km
farther along in tree tops, on fence posts or hydro poles. This is a high
speed road and the shoulders are narrow in places, so take extra caution.
