Point Pelee Report for May 26 (Thursday)

Compared to yesterday, today is a bit slower but still active with a
variety of migrants. Still a good selection of warblers including early
species such as Yellow-rumped, Palm, etc. Mourning Warblers continue to be
heard singing throughout the park. The occasional Olive-sided Flycatcher
can also be found throughout.

Birds reported today included the following:

Summer Tanager -- two adult males singing in Tilden's Woods.

Hooded Warbler -- one male north of the Visitor Centre, on the trail to the
campground

Acadian Flycatcher -- east side of Woodland Nature Trail

Red-necked Phalarope -- NW Hillman Marsh (shorebird cell).

Late yesterday the following were seen:

Blue Grosbeak -- female at Sanctuary Picnic Area (Marianne Reid)

Kentucky Warbler -- singing male on east side of Woodland Nature Trail

Kentucky Warbler -- female just N of Pioneer Picnic Area on the seasonal
trail

Least Bittern -- one calling out from Sanctuary Picnic Area, and probably
the same after sunset from the Marsh Boardwalk.

Least Bittern -- several at Wheatley Provincial Park.

HILLMAN MARSH -- the shorebird cell is now being drained, but late
yesterday there was still a good variety including Wilson's Phalarope (7),
Dunlin, Whimbrel (9), Semipalmated Plover and Semipalmated Sandpiper.
