Judith king and I ventured up to Cabot Head this morning to look for the Sage Thrasher and had no luck finding it. Lots of good birds though. We had Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Indigo Bunting, American Goldfinch, about a 100 Bluejays, 50-60 Cedar Waxwing, Common Loon on Georgian Bay calling & Chipping Sparrow. On our way home we stopped at the Sparrow fields north of the hamlet of Dyer's Bay and had Field sparrow, Song Sparrow, Blue-winged Warbler, Indigo Bunting and more Cedar Waxwing. North of the village of Ferndale we had a great look at a Red-shouldered Hawk as it flew across Hwy. #6 and Brewer's Blackbird in the fields south of Ferndale . Directions to Cabot Head as per Cindy Cartwright's posting. Take Dyer's Bay road east from highway 6 through the hamlet. Look for the sign for the lighthouse and follow the dirt road along the shore (about 10 km) until you reach the lighthouse.
