Sorry for the delay with this post.

Tuesday morning between 9-10:00 am, I observed both male and female piping
plovers at the eastern edge of Beach area 1 at Wasaga Beach.

There had been some concern for the female, as she had not been seen for a few
days. The male was enticing her with all of the displays of mating. In fact,
mating did take place within 20-30 ft of the snow fence that's been set up to
protect this endangered bird.
What a sight to see.

There will no doubt be concerns for their well being, along with their young,
given that the area chosen for nesting is within the busiest of beach areas.

Wasaga Beach can be reached by going west out of Elmvale on Hwy 92. Follow into
Main St., turn right and follow to main beach area, just over the bridge, turn
right and park in Beach 1 parking area. Walk down to the beach and you will see
the snow fenced area with signs posted. There were reports of MNR and OFO staff
present, although there was no one there at the time of my visit.

Today a LITTLE BLUE HERON was spotted in Kincardine feeding close to the
shore. It stayed in the area until about 10:00am and then left and flew
north. Pictures were taken and will be posted on the OFO web site.
The bird was observed along the Lake Huron shore just off Saugeen Street
south of Kingsway Street.
In the event that the bird returns, one can reach this location by taking
Broadway Street west off highway 21 in Kincardine to Saugeen Street.
