Hi Everyone,
At Coronation Park in south-west Oakville this afternoon I had a Tufted
Titmouse, only my third ever for this neck of Ontario. All were seen in October
and did not stay put for long, leading me to believe it is making it's way
south even though they are considered permanent residents in Ontario. The bird
was seen at the western end of the park abutting the large residential
backyards, near where the small stream enters the park. Also noted were a male
and female Black-throated Blue Warbler. On a sadder note, my habit of checking
Burdoch for avian victims yielded 2 dead male Golden-crowned Kinglets and my
first ever dead Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Directions; Oakville, just west of Toronto, take the QEW to the Bronte Road
exit. At the lights go south( left) and continue down to Lakeshore Road. Turn
east(left) and go for 2km. Coronation Park is on the right or lake side.
Good Birding,
Mark Jennings,
Burlington , Ontario.

Greetings all,
I was birding at Presqu'ile this morning (12 Oct) for about 2.5 hrs
and there are still tons of passerines about including a few
interesting things. Most of my birding was in the dunes and veg.
immediately east of the beach, plus the Pines Campground.
Birds of Note or Good Numbers were:
1 Merlin at the Woodpile Marsh
1 imm. Forster Tern off Beach 4
3 B-h Vireo
90 R-c Kinglet
63 Hermit Thrush
1 Chestnut-sided Warbler - my latest ever, at the Pines septic bed
1 BT Green Warbler
815 Myrtle Warbler
35 Palm Warbler
2 Com Yellowthroat
1 Indigo Bunting - feeding on the snowfence path at the back of Beach 4.
In general there was very little happening with waterbirds or
shorebirds today but the shrub line along the back of the beach was
just hopping with Myrtles, Palms and various sparrows.
Directions: Presqu'ile is just south of Brighton and is well signed
from Hwy. 401 or 2.
Cheers
Doug McRae
