Since the superb raptor count days on Saturday (2227)& Sunday (674) the
weather has not been conducive for hawks to move along the shoreline over
the Cranberry Marsh Raptor Watch in southwest Whitby. On Oct.11 we witnessed
a low-flying N.Goshawk fly over the wetland back & forth twice, before
taking off westward.
However people are enjoying a great number of songbirds along the paths and
along Hall's Rd. On some days the Pringle Creek bridge on Brock St. S. has
had several species of shorebirds--I checked only once--dunlin, both
yellowlegs, solitary, semi-palmated and others.
Among the Hall's Rd. warblers--black-throated blue and green, yellow-rumped,
a few Yellows, Yellowthroat, Palm, Nashville, Orange-crowned,----. On 2
occasions lately I have seen the male R-n Pheasant near the north end of the
road.
An immature Sapsucker has been noted on each of the past 6 days, along with
Purple Finch, Swainson's and Hermit Thrushes. Noone has reported a Fox
Sparrow to me.

Now then, I need help in monitoring and recording data at the CMRW platform
from Oct. 13 to Oct.17 inclusive. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU RECORD INFO,
PARTICULARLY IF NOONE IS DOING IT OFFICIALLY--USE THE YELLOW PAGES IN THE
WHITE MAILBOX.

>From the west exit the 401 at Salem Rd. in Ajax (#404), south to Bayly, then
east through Lakeridge to the first street (Hall's Rd.), driving south down
to the second roadside parking area. From the east exit the 401 onto Brock
St. in Whitby (#410), then south to Victoria, then west over to Hall's.
