The winds began light to moderate from the south-southwest gradually bearing around to the west-northwest and increasing. Raptor Observations: West component winds tend to spread the flight out over a broad area and today was no exception. The strong winds also buffeted the birds to the point that they were doing a lot of quartering back and forth as they made their way forward. Many of the birds were overhead but quite a few of the larger groups of TVs were cutting the corner of the lake on the northwest wind. It was nice to see finally some decent numbers of Red-tails appearing among the vulture streams, a harbinger of things to come Im sure. Two juvenile Broad-wings added a bit of variety to the mix.
