Hello Ontbirders:

To further Cheryl's post for those interested, the following birds were
seen from Van Wangers Beach today (by various people)
while my father and I were there (8am-4:45pm) during the strong winds:

Northern Gannet- Not seen again after 9:20am
Long-tailed Jaeger- only the 1 bird seen in the large group of Jaegers at
11:20am
Pomarine Jaeger- I would assume 3 or 4 birds were seen off and on at different
times during the day (hard to know how many for
sure). Usually with Parasitic Jaeger(s)
Parasitic Jaeger- seen at different times of the day in groups of up to 5, with
the last two we saw around 4:30pm
Black-legged Kittiwake- 1 bird with a Group of Bonaparte's (fairly close to
shore) around 3:50pm
Brant- 1 bird made two quick flyby's along the shore in the early afternoon
Lesser Black-backed Gull- 1 juv/1st winter flew north along the beach in the
early afternoon
Iceland/Thayer's Gull- a bird I didn't see, late in the morning.
Common Tern- 2 seen in the mid afternoon.

Many other birds were seen over the Lake today, including: all 3 Scoter
species, lots of Loons, a Northern Harrier, and thousands of
diving ducks far out on the lake at all times. Yesterday (Oct 21st) my father
and I also had a first winter Little Gull here as
well. Sorry if I missed any other sightings!

Hopefully there is an easterly wind tomorrow!

Good Birding
