Hi Ontbirders,
Today I concentrated on gulls on the St. Clair River to Courtright. (there seemed to be less waterfowl anyway!). There are still large numbers of gulls north of Sombra, especially off Cathcart Park and Terra (ICI) Industries. They are constantly moving about and consist mostly of hundreds of Herring Gulls. Of note, I located two LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS (adults) in this area. They were each some distance apart. Also, two ICELAND GULLS (one first basic and one third basic). As well, at least four adult GLAUCOUS GULLS were seen. The (3rd winter) Iceland and one Lesser BB Gull were side by side at one point. A good spot to get out and scope is at Cathcart Park a few km north of Sombra. It is well marked.

Directions to Sombra and St. Clair River: Find Hwy 40 that runs N/S between
Wallaceburg and Sarnia. Turn west on Lambton Rd. 2 (Bentpath Line) and take
to Sombra on the St. Clair River. Fawn Island is just to the south of the
village. The St. Clair Parkway (Rd. 33) follows the river along its length.
