Birders,
I agree with Cathy Carroll about looking farther northeast. After his/her
visit to a Wheatley residence late on Thursday afternoon (where he
consumed a couple of fish), he flew even farther up the beach just
before
dark.
I also want to add my thanks to the person who came all the way back
from Wheatley harbour to tell everyone around Hillman Marsh where to
  find the bird.
A note about some cell phones like mine. I have to move around a bit to
get a connection in the Hillman Marsh area

Carol Furtado

Sunday morning there was a tufted titmouse just east of Briardale School in St.
Catahrines. It was keeping company with chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches,
downy and red-bellied woodpeckers. Further east, by the creek bridge there was
a mockingbird.

Directions: Briardale is at the end of Caroline St., which runs north off
Glendale Ave., west of the Pen Centre. Glendale can be accessed by QEW or Hwy.

On this bitter cold Sunday morning John Black, Jean and Blayne Farnan =
and I birded the Niagara River between Fort Erie and Niagara Falls.

At the Chippawa Tim Hortons we had a fly by Merlin, and in the gorge =
opposite the Victoria Restaurant, we observed an adult Glaucous Gull. =
We headed next towards Fort Erie to look for the adult and juvenal =
Trumpeter Swans reported by Bill Watson and found them along with two =
Mute Swans in the River close to the shoreline at the bottom of College =
Street at Service Road 6. The adult Trumpeter was wing tagged with a =
yellow tag #847. Opposite 2815 Niagara Parkway, Blayne located a rare =
for Niagara RUDDY DUCK and as we were enjoying views of the Ruddy, John =
excitedly called our attention to a CACKLING GOOSE (likely Richardson's) =
that he spotted amongst 35-40 Canada's. This bird was easily compared =
for size with two very close male Mallards, and the small "pushed in" =
bill was clearly seen. Finally, Jean spotted an immature Bald Eagle in =
a tree at the south end of Navy Island.

These locations can be accessed by taking the Niagara Parkway along the =
Niagara River either south from Niagara Falls or north from Fort Erie.=20
