Found this am in the fields at the intersection of Major Mackezie Ave & the Tenth Line Markham the usual flock of gulls containing a large number of whitewings resting there no doubt after having gorged on the
smorgasbord of pig vittals that is used to dress one of the back fields. A Red-tailed hawk sent them skyward now and then though a distant trio of coyotes bothered them not at all. Present in the trees were three or four hundred Crows. Small flocks of Horned larks and Snowbuntings were observed along the country roads while a little hotspot was found at #364 one km west of Old Brock Road on the Uxbridge/Pickering Town Line. There, a male Red-bellied woodpecker was nailing grubs in a rotting maple by the gate while a Hairy woodpecker diligently searched the tree next to it. Tree sparrows, Jays, Chickadees, Juncos & a Cardinal were also noted at that brief stop. Cheers - S Long
