There was alot of diversity this morning however most species were in single to low numbers

Hooded Warbler

I had a singing Hooded Warbler at the north edge of Cool Hollow this morning. Cool Hollow is the small woods south of the GM platform and beside the se corner of the Second Marsh.

Long-billed Dowitcher

It was in Jim's pond but flew out to the gravel bar in the second marsh, when a Peregrine Falcon passed by. The pond has sprung a leak and now has mudflats. Jim's Pond is the small pond directly south of the GM office. Also present were 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 8 Lesser Yellowlegs and 4 Greater Yellowlegs

Sandhill Crane

There was one present approx 100m from the GM platform this morning. It was still present at 10am. Most of the time it either slept or preened.

Other highlights

new arrivals: Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Orchard Oriole, Bobolink Warblers: 11 species in small numbers (Hooded, Yellow, Palm, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green, Black-throated Blue, Black-and-white, Pine, Nashville, Common Yellowthroat, and American Redstart)
Sparrows: 7 species mostly White-crowned and White-throated
Little Gulls and Bonaparte's Gulls numbers are dropping quickly
Cooper's Hawk, Peregrine Falcon
No Wigeon were observed today. Most waterfowl were out of the marsh and feeding offshore with the gulls on the emerging midges.

Directions

Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on
Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow
to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot
close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of
the lot.
