As of Sunday May 28 there is one nest with six eggs and one hatchling. The young bird likely hatched last Wednesday. As in previous years there are additional pairs trying to build nests attached to the back of boats in the marina. This is the tenth year for Red-necked Grebes nesting in Bronte.

There is an active Cliff Swallow colony at the nearby Lighthouse Restaurant.

Directions: Exit the QEW at Bronte Road (Oakville) and go to the lake. Bronte Road ends at Ontario Street. Proceed along Ontario Street until you see the Lighthouse Restaurant. The grebe nest is near shore on an anchored, floating tire just east of the restaurant. There is a second tire available but it is unoccupied.
