Hi All, I'm on Wylie Road and was here at 5:55am, got the Henslow's Sparrow singing as soon as I arrived and waited and watched for about 10 minutes before seeing it. The bird perched on grass stalks in the same general area for over an hour, singing non-stop. Listen for it's “see-lick” song, short but quite clear.
Also, as mentioned in Norm Murr's post of yesterday, all the regular breeders can be seen and heard along Wylie Rd, including Vesper, Swamp, Clay-colored, Grasshopper, Song, Savannah, Field Sparrows, Eastern Towhee, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Bluebird, Black-billed Cuckoo, American Bittern, Sedge Wren (at the marsh and one heard in the wet area about 300m north of the Henslow's spot), Bobolinks, Upland Sandpiper, many Wilson's Snipe, Pileated Woodpecker amongst all the other great birds. All these were seen along Wylie Road from McNamee to the marsh. Good birding, Frank Pinilla Richmond Hill, ON DIRECTIONS: The spot is on the west side of Wylie Road about 200m North of McNamee Road just past a little rise in the road (first area of trees & bush). Bird is in the grassy field on the west side. Take Hwy 48 east from Beaverton (hwy splits off from Hwy 12) to the town of Kirkfield and then turn left/north on CR6, follow north past the Kirkfield Lift Locks and as the road turns hard west there is a dirt road on the right, this is McNamee, Wylie runs north off McNamee just after you turn. ----------------------------- Sent from My BlackBerry Wireless
