For the last 4 days I have observed an Uplands Sandpiper perched on various telephone poles beside the road between home and work (Carleton Place to Ottawa) It can be seen on County Rd 49 (March Rd) between Carp Rd and Diamondview Rd. Carp Rd can be reached from Hwy 417 as you drive west from Ottawa. The bird is typically on the south side of the road perched on a pole,and calls often when approached.
