An increasingly popular site, a family of Red Necked Grebes nesting on a tire in a marina along side of a fine restaurant. 2 adults and a recently hatched chick are present here, and the feeding is continuous.
We watched "the changing of the guard" tonight as the adults made the switch.. (after a short argument). There are at least 3 eggs still unhatched at this time. QEW to the Bronte Rd exit, in west Oakville, go south about 4 KMs to the end, and follow the road left to the east parking lot of the Marina, park near the swings, and walk towards the water, about 60 yards. Public restrooms are on the north side of the facility building, about 50 yards west., and the restaurant looks great! It fell out of the nest into the water. It had managed to get back up to the adult sitting on the nest within an hour.
