Weather:
The weather overall today was I’m sure showing the influences of Ernesto
that is currently dumping heavy rains on the East Coast. Skies were
generally overcast with moderate to fairly strong winds blowing out of the
east for much of the day.

Raptor Observations:
The count today was much as you would expect this early in the fall but
there was some decent movement at midday when the sun peeked out for a
bit.

Non-raptor Observations:
Highlighting the non-raptor movement today was the appearance of a
first-winter Black-legged Kittiwake during the early part of the count.
Also, there appeared to be a significant number of Common Terns feeding in
the channel as seen from the boat launch keeping company with the usual
numbers of Forster’s and a single Black Tern was noted there as well.
Large numbers of Purple Martins were active all day long and appeared to
be staging rather than migrating.

Predictions:
Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow but later than early, so there may
some modest movement ahead of it.
