Skies were generally overcast with moderate to fairly strong winds blowing out of the east for much of the day. Raptor Observations: The count today was much as you would expect this early in the fall but there was some decent movement at midday when the sun peeked out for a bit. Non-raptor Observations: Highlighting the non-raptor movement today was the appearance of a first-winter Black-legged Kittiwake during the early part of the count. Also, there appeared to be a significant number of Common Terns feeding in the channel as seen from the boat launch keeping company with the usual numbers of Forsters and a single Black Tern was noted there as well. Large numbers of Purple Martins were active all day long and appeared to be staging rather than migrating. Predictions: Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow but later than early, so there may some modest movement ahead of it. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/
