Evening all....
Although wishing I was at the west end of Lake Ontario this evening, I took
a run to the lagoons instead.... Pretty quiet except for a group of 3
juvenile Red Necked Phalaropes in the second cell. They were staying within
a foot of each other and were very approachable (up to 20 feet).... They
were along the west 'beach' of the second cell when I left for home and
Friday Night Pizza....
Exeter lagoons are located a concession west of Exeter off highway 83. South
on Airport Line will take you to a second gate, where you can park and walk
in. An access pass is required to be on the property.
Good Birding, and see you at Hutches tomorrow...

Hi all,
Having read Rick's report last night, I hied myself to the lagoons
ahead of Che Ernesto. there were 5 of these juvenile plumaged birds at ~
8:30 am, in the NW corner of 2nd. lagoon. The Eared Grebe (winter plumage,
now) was by itself, down in the eastern extension of the 1st. lagoon. The
usual assortment of other waterfowl and shorebirds were also in the 2nd.
lagoon and an adult Merlin flew over as I was climbing to the berm.
Yesterday ~9:00 am, I saw the Buff-breasted Sandpiper, found by Alf
Rider on Thursday feeding in the detritus on Kettle Point beach shoreline,
between the main point and the small one to the north of it. I got some
great video at ~15/20 feet, but had to get back to Pinery PP as Emily was
helping at the banding station on Riverside trail - they had big run of
vireos, mostly red-eyed and Philidelphia plus assorted other 'dickie birds'.
While there I saw 5 woodpecker sp.
Good luck to all who are eagerly scanning Lake Ontario for the Manx
Shearwater ( don't let the wind blow away your tail - I hope to get over
there Mon/Tue).
Cheers! Maris
