There will be lots of activities including guided hawk watching at the tower, hawk, passerine and Monarch talks, adopt a hawk and passerine opportunities, the Pelee Wings Nature Store display, the Blue Kestrel Cafe with our famous muffins and a dragonfly walk on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. with Paul Pratt. Weather: The rain and thunderstorms predicted for this morning did not take place. Instead we had gradually clearing to sun and cloud by noon with winds from the South and Southwest. Raptor Observations: A light migration today with mainly Sharp-shinned Hawks. Two Merlins blasted through the site which were a highlight. Several of the Sharpies took aim at our Northern Flickers as the flickers fed on the grassy strip next to the Trout Pond. The flickers flew but returned, not put off by the young Sharpies. The lingering Osprey is still with us, today catching and eating a fish. Non-raptor Observations: A variety of species were seen today including Chimney Swifts, 10 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Palm Warbler, flycatcher species, Caspian Terns, and 48 Monarchs heading in a westerly direction due to the South winds. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Betty Learmouth ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Holiday Beach Migration Observatory information may be found at: http://hbmo.org/
