September 11 - The Tricolored Heron was observed from 3:20 to 3:50 PM at
Point Abino, Ontario. Between Rock point Provincial Park and Point Abino (in
the town of Ft. Erie) seven shorebird species were observed including 30
Sanderlings and four Black-bellied Plovers at Rock point and a Greater
Yellowlegs
at Long Beach CA. Also at Point Abino there were two Mute Swans, two Blue
winged Teals, and two Northern Pintails.

Directions:
The Tricolored Heron was seen on a rock the shore of Abino Bay
on the east side of the base of Point Abino. Point Abino is between
Fort Erie and Port Colborne on the north shore near the eastern end of
Lake Erie. From Hwy. 3, go south on Point Abino Road. The Tricolored
Heron was feeding in shallow water and was visible from Point Abino Road
about 0.5 km south of Erie Road.
Abino Bay feeding in the shallow waters close to the gravel parking lot/boat
launch
area located on the southeast side of S. Pt. Abino Road. This parking lot is
about 20 meters past the point where you can first see the waters of Lake
Erie on Point Abino Road (Niagara 112) This is apparently the
same bird reported by Mike Oldham last Thursday and Mike Zebahazy Sunday.
