Visitors:
Thank you to Cherise Charron, Ian Woodfield, Carl Latta, Mercer
Patriarche, and Jim McCoy who assisted us today.
CBC broadcaster Barbara Peacock conducted an interview with Phil Roberts
at the base of the tower for the regular nature segment heard on CBC radio
1550 on the am dial every Thursday afternoon at 5:45 p.m. on the program
Crosstown.
Weather:
Today was cloudy with light winds from the south and mild temperatures
reaching 20 degrees Celcius.
Raptor Observations:
A light migration today with the highlight a Peregrine Falcon which flew
across the tower pond at 12:05 p.m. EST.
Non-raptor Observations:
Among the migrants today were flocks of blackbirds, Common Grackles,
thirty American Robins, a few swallows, finches and a small number of Blue
Jays.
The passerine banding station reported a record number of kinglets banded
today. These birds flew in while the passerine bander showed the hawk
counters a banded Tufted Titmouse and Blue Jay.
The single Osprey is still with us, catching carp while trying to avoid
the local Bald Eagles as he consumes his catch.
