I thank Ian Cannell and Norm Murr for wonderful contributions to the Cranberry
Marsh Raptor station--their eyes, their quips, their scope, and on & on. Yes,
rain hit us in the early AM, but by 1300 hawktime we had observers in
readiness-- in addition to the count we enjoyed close-flying Red-tailed &
Harrier, and, then (yes, Charlie)--shortly after you left--a juvenile BALD
EAGLE appeared to the east, being harrassed by a rather late OSPREY

Observations made by 8 observers over 4 hours-Oct.20
Observation time--8 to 9am , 1-4pm hawktime

blackbirds, winter wren, hermit thrush, c.loon, n,.shoveler, pintail, gadwall,
wood duck, both teals, Am.wigeon, red-breasted nuthatch, among others.

                  Tim Smart

Weather:
Wind mostly 7 mph but as high as 10 mph. Direction was WNW to W back to
WNW. Temperature range 6.3 to 10.3 degrees C. Pressure 29.82 mm of Hg.
Mostly overcast with light rain at midmorning.

Raptor Observations:
The winds tended to keep the TVs high and northward while the Sharpies and
others were lower and mostly over the Tower site. One Golden Eagle was 40
feet above the tower and one of the observers noted the wind coming from
the birds wing beat. ;-) A very close look. --- Best ever!

Many songbirds passing including Crows (11,200), blackbirds, tree swallows,
swifts, pipits, yellow-rumped warblers. Banders were getting mostly
kinglets and hermit thrushes.

Predictions:
Mostly cloudy. A chance of sprinkles by mid afternoon. Highs 56 to 60.
South winds 5 to 15 mph.
