Birding this morning in very windy conditions at Owen Point and Gull (soon to
be an island again if the wind keeps up!) in Presqu'ile Provincial Park, Don
Shanahan and I had great views of a Juv. Pomarine Jaeger. We also saw a
Little Gull, a few Black-bellied Plovers, two or three Dunlin, 2 Pectoral
Sandpipers, 1 Semipalmated Sandpiper, 30+ Snow Buntings and a Phalarope sp.
that did not stay around to be identified.

In spite of rising BP and a TUV=3 the very strong westerlies were a real
challenge for any raptor attempting to come across the wetland in a westward
direction. As many as 10 observers had wonderful views of a juvenile Northern
Goshawk being harassed by a resident N.Harrier. 2 juvenile Red-shouldereds
showed clearly the end-of-wing crescents. To date the Rough-legged count has
been low--a dark morph did come through. As per Oct.29 the CMRW total sits at
7012.
Few passerines were noted--E.Phoebe and Cedar Waxwings being the most notable.
Waterfowl on the wetland-- Pintail , Shoveler, Gadwall, Wood, Bufflehead,
Green-winged Teal, Mallard, Am. Wigeon
On Hall's Rd.--10 Wild Turkeys
