Made it across on the 7:30 ferry yesterday (Dec 28th) morning. The
first Snowy of the day was found just to the west of the entrance to
the KFN property sitting on one of the bird boxes along the fence
line. No Saw-whets in the woods, but the Long-eareds are all still
there (25+). A second Snowy was visible from the eastern most road
on the island (near the kfn property) and a Peregrine was seen flying
south to north over the same fields. Many Rough-leggeds including at
least 2 dark morph birds, as well as several Harriers (one male) and
many Red-tails were observed throughout the island. Also of note, a
Northern Shrike made an attempt at a Chickadee just beyond the
feeders in the owl woods.
