Birder's

Sorry about the delayed post but I just got home today. On the 26th of Dec.
I had an adult Lesser Black Backed Gull in the bay off the Landfill in
Orillia. It could be seen from the foot of West St.with about 750 other
Gulls.I am not sure of the status of this sp. in this area but if anyone is
keeping track i would be happy to forward a couple of poor but diagnostic
documenting photos.

On the 27th I spent a couple of hours at the landfill but only came up with
one first year Iceland Gull. I was shocked at dramatic increase in the
number of Greater Black-backed Gulls since I last birded this area with
probably more than 100 scattered around the lakeshore. There were two
Trumpeter Swans off the end of Forest Ave. There were 4 small Canada Geese
in this spot as well. Initially I thought they were probably Cackling Geese
but they were clearly quite a bit larger than the associated Common
Mergansers so I concluded they were probably Lesser Canada Geese.
