Two wrens have been visiting a yard with feeders in swastika. A photo will soon be available. Is this an obrc bird for northern Ontario? Apparently one of them spends more time running then flying but also can fly.

Many species I wouldn't expect for this time = of year including piedbilled grebe which I have almos never seen in Winter,= it was by the train bridge on the Thames West of the forks. that is where = wood ducks are too. saw the grebe and was like WHAT?? too cool. glad to see= the snow goose around seems like he is going to hang. thinking about givin= g him a name. there were a few types of domestic ducks that I think are alm= ost feral now, 10 fat domestic mallards, 5 blond mallards ie peking ducks a= nd 7 muscovy most of which were near Wonderland bridge over Thames where du= cks hang out, I also suspect that there is a cackling goose there. Couldn't= believe the Cardinals I was seeing they were everywhere in large flocks! I= 've never heard of Cardinal flocks until this year. There was one flock han= ging out in a tree like finches, up near the top! Unusual behaviour I think= hopefully they don't eat all the Winter Finch food. At about 8:30am from Britannia Pier, one adult was seen on the Quebec side of the rapids Shortly after, 6 birds were observed in the distance, on the ice, east of Shirleys Bay. Upon arriving at the Shirleys Bay boat launch, 8 birds were perched in trees in various places along the shore. None were observed on the ice. 5 flew west toward the DND rifle range. 3 stayed behind in the cottage area. At around 10:15, we found 5 birds on the Ottawa Duck Club property (DND rifle range). At 11:30, we saw 2 soaring over the Kerwin Road trail. Other birds seen this morning included 1 dark morph Rough-legged Hawk (March Valley Rd.), 1 Northern Shrike (Rifle Rd.) and several White- winged Crossbills were heard while 2 were seen (Kerwin Road trail). I returned to Shirley's Bay and Riddel Road late this afternoon. At Shirley's Bay boat launch area, there were 2 eagles and an adult Sharp-shinned Hawk. At the marsh near the corner of Riddell Road and 6th Line a Black- backed Woodpecker was mobbing a Northern Shrike. Shortly after the shrike took off, a flock of 13 American Robins flew northwest over the marsh.
