A lone Red-necked Grebe was feeding in the spillway below Fanshawe Dam at 3:00 PM today, March 9th. Unfortunately this was the first day in months I didn't have my binoculars and spotting scope with me at work so attempted to ID with borrowed binoculars - best guess is a first winter bird. The Conservation Area is accessed from Clarke Road between Huron street and Fanshawe Park Road in Northeastern London, or check out the link below. Follow the park access road to the parking area immediately before the dam and the gate that will likely be closed this weekend, and if the bird is still around, it should be visible from the road crossing the dam.
