Further to Ron Ridout's posting this morning. The Ross' s Goose was in the flooded field beside Dedrick Creek at 11 am. On my way home from Port Rowan at 11:30 the Ross's had moved but there were 4 Greater White Fronted Geese in the same flooded field with a group of Canadas.
Dedrick Creek is east of #59 on Conc. 1 at the bottom of the hill half way between #59 & Reg. Rd 42. See Ron Ridout's directions to Conc. 1. It was on the boat launch near the parking lot at midday today, Friday March 16th. The Ring-billed Gulls, now in splendid breeding plumage, are harassing it more and more as they get brighter and it gets darker. The harbour also has 3 Ruddy Ducks, several close White-winged Scoters, a coot, and a young Snow Goose. The male Harlequin Duck found by Richard Pope on March 14th is still off the rocks at Lucas Point with several Common Goldeneyes. Lucas Point is at the foot of Normar Road on the east edge of Cobourg. Directions: Exit Hwy.401 at Exit 474, Division Street. Follow Division St. south to where it ends at the harbour, then drive west around the harbour to the main parking lot on the west side. For Normar Road, turn left (east) at the intersection of Division St. and King (Cty.Rd.2) in the centre of Cobourg, and drive east for about 2km. Normar Road is signposted just before the railroad bridge - turn right (south) to where it deadends at the lake.
