New species today for Point Pelee included a single Tree Swallow and a single
Hermit Thrush. Common were Golden-crowned Kinglet, Brown Creeper, and Eastern
Phoebe. Three of the 5 Horned Grebe seen yesterday at the Tip were still seen
today near the winter parking area at the tram turn-around with 2 of the birds
still in winter plumage and 1 in almost full breeding plumage.

Still no sign that we will actually have a "Tip" in time for spring migration.
There isn't enough room at the moment for probably more than half a dozen
Ring-billed Gull to roost on what is left of the tip. There is no sandy beach
on the west side of the tip all the way back to the winter parking area, and no
beach on the east side for several hundred metres north from the tip. The
number of large trees in the water along the east side makes it essentially
inaccessible.

Hello Fellow Birders,

A flock of 9 PURPLE FINCHES entertained us in our yard on and under the
feeders. The first Robin has arrived, the male & female NORTHERN CARDINALs
who seem to have stuck around for the whole winter remain in unruffled
tranquility. At one of our feeding stations the male stepped forward
aggressively this morning toward his mate doing his courtship feeding. He
brought his companion tidbits of food with their bills touching briefly as
she accepted each offered morsel.

WOOD, HOODED MERGANSER, RING NECKED, AMERICAN WIGEON, BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON
GOLDENEYE, GREATER & LESSER SCAUP DUCKS with about 3 or 4 of each species.

Directions: take Mill St. exit off # 401 by Newcastle and take Liberty St.
exit off # 401 by Bowmanville and drive south on both roads. For
Bowmanville turn west on to the West Beach Rd. till the end loop called
Cedar Crest Beach Rd. & Watson Cr. Look north with a telescope into the St.
Mary Cement pond.
