It is with great regret that I inform you of the passing of
Harold Leslie Lancaster on Sunday April 1st. Harold was a resident of
Elgin County in his youth and retired years and the Niagara Peninsula
during his working years. He made many significant contributions to the
birding community and has maintained a detailed record of his bird
records that cover over 75 years. A copy of his records will be
forwarded shortly to the ROM. He was a director of the FON for 8 years,
was very actively involved in the 1950s publication "The Birds of Elgin
County" by Ronald Brooman and most recently was the driving force behind
the publication "The Birds of Elgin County - A Century of Changes".
The birding community has lost a avid ornithologist and a great
man. Anyone requiring additional information can contact me directly.
